Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs on the big screen

One of my favorite humourous children's books is coming to a big screen near you. Cloudy with a chance of meatballs tells the tale of the town of "chewandswallow" where the weather changes 3 times a day- breakfast, dinner, and lunch. Except, it never rains water and it never snows ice. Rain is usually soup or juice and snow is mashed potatoes- you get the picture?

On September 18th the book will come to life in theatres across the U.S. Sony Pictures has announced that they will release the film adaptation of the book-I sure hope it doesn't rain that day. I don't know how closely the the movie will match the book, but I'm sure it will be entertaining for my family and will get my kids excited about reading.

I'm so excited that I think we may center a few activities around the opening weekend. For starters, I think I'll make meatballs for dinner on Friday night. Then, we'll read the book, once again, before bedtime. On saturday, we'll watch the Cloudy with a chance of meaatbalsl -the movie and discuss the similarities between the book and the movie afterwards.

If I'm feeling adventurous, maybe we'll have a food fight to commemorate the weather - maybe NOT. But, it might not be a bad idea to have a meatball themed bookclub meeting around the title...hmmmmm

Yeah, I can see a group of kids gathered in a circle sharing their favorite parts of the book and the movie. Everyone is decked out in rain coats and boots - just in case rains food. Each guest could bring a food item from the book and discuss their favorite characters...

Anywho, that's my creative 2 cents going wild. I'd love to hear any that you come up with on your own.
